Manitoulin Island: “the Heart and Spirit of the Great Lakes of Canada”

3 Day* Customized Tour for Groups

Welcome to Manitoulin Island – “the Heart and Spirit of the Great Lakes of Canada”, or “Mnidoo Mnising” in the Anishnaabeg language. It is the world’s largest freshwater island, and has more than one hundred inland lakes. There are more than two dozen small settlements with native and non-native communities co-existing like nowhere else on the continent, spread out across more than 160 km of boreal forest, lakes, rivers, shorelines, escarpments, and meadows. The people and the communities have emerged through a history as colourful and complex as any in Canada – from the fur trade to free trade, from the ice age to the new age. Your 3 day trip will include horseback riding or a wagon ride, a cowboy cookout, guided tour and workshop at the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation as well as a traditional Ojibwe dinner. Lace up your boots for some hiking!
