Join Diane Carson on this trip to Shipshewana and Chicago. Highlights of the trip are the Amish dinner and quilt talk by Rebecca Haarer, as well as the International Quilt Festival – a sampling of arts, crafts, and Quilts, sculptures, decorative items, handcrafted products, paintings, wall hangings etc.. Stitch along with new friends or those you have travelled with before. Come join the fun!

Note: It is the responsibility of all participants to be in possession of the correct documentation to travel out of the country. Failure to do so will result in participants being denied entry/boarding and returned home at the expense of the individual. . Canadian Citizens 19 and over require a valid passport (the Canadian Government recommends that passports are valid at least for the duration of your travel. Non-Canadian travellers should contact Ellison Travel & Tours at traveldocuments@ettravel.com so we can check entry and transit requirements and confirm that they have the correct travel documentation and/or visa requirements.
Day 1 – Tuesday March 26 D | ||

6:30am | – | Brantford pick up – Best Western Brant Park Inn, 19 Holiday Drive, Brantford 877-341-1234 if you wish to stay over the night before |
8:00am | – | Exeter pick up – at the grocery store parking lot on the corner of Main and Sanders streets in Exeter (cars are to be parked in the Legion lot) |
8:15am | – | board the coach and depart Exeter for Indiana |
– | a stop will be made in Michigan to purchase lunch | |
4:00pm | – | estimated arrival time in Shipshewana, Indiana – www.shipshewana.com |
– | check in at the Farmstead Inn for your 1 night stay – www.TradingPlace.com | |
– | time to freshen up for the evening activity | |
Note: Due to MTO regulations, your driver will log off for the remainder of the evening. Please remove all of your personal items from the coaches at this time as you will not have access until tomorrow morning. | ||
5:30pm | – | board your locally chartered motorcoach and transfer to an Amish home for a typical Amish dinner |
7:30pm | – | following dinner Rebecca Haarer will speak to you about Amish quilt patterns and give you some history on their meaning |
8:30pm | – | return to the hotel for overnight for free time – the indoor pool is open until 10:00pm |
Day 2 – Wednesday March 27 B | ||
8:00am | – | continental breakfast at the hotel at your leisure followed by check out |
– | you have the morning in Shipshewana to visit the shops (the coach is not available this morning) | |
– | time for shopping at Yoder’s Department Store – www.yoderdepartmentstore.com and/or Spector’s Dry Goods Store (these are both located within 2 blocks from the hotel) | |
12:45pm | – | meet at the Davis Mercantile (Main St. at the corner of Harrison) – your coach will arrive to meet you |
1:00pm | – | board the coach and transfer to Chicago, Illinois |
3:30pm | – | estimated arrival time at the Doubletree O’Hare/Rosemont where you will check in for a 3 night stay |
– | there will be time to settle in and freshen up | |
– | purchase dinner at or near the hotel | |
6:00pm | – | meet in the lobby and transfer to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center |
– | preview night at the International Quilt Festival | |
9:00pm | – | return to your hotel |

Day 3 – Thursday March 28 B | ||
8:30am | – | enjoy a hot breakfast at the hotel |
9:15am | – | board the coach and transfer to the convention center |
9:45am | – | International Quilt Festival show opens |
– | an afternoon shuttle will be set up for those who wish to return to the hotel (times and more detail to follow) | |

Day 4 – Friday March 29 B/D | ||
8:30am | – | enjoy a hot breakfast at the hotel |

10:00am | – | International Quilt Festival show opens |
– | purchase lunch at the show | |
1:00pm | – | meet and board the coach to transfer to downtown Chicago |
2:00pm | – | meet your step-on guide for a coach tour in the city – you will see many of the sights of this exciting city and learn about the architecture that makes Chicago unique |
4:00pm | – | following the tour there is time to shop and explore on Michigan Avenue |
7:00pm | – | group dinner at Gino’s East (or similar) – enjoy Chicago style deep dish pizza |
8:30pm | – | board the coach and return to your hotel |
9:15pm | – | arrive at the hotel and settle in for the night |
Day 5 – Saturday March 30 B | ||
7:00am | – | enjoy a hot breakfast at the hotel |
7:45am | – | check out and the coach will be loaded |
8:00am | – | board the coach and depart for home |

$1,055.00 CAD Per Paying Person based on twin accommodation and a minimum of 30 people travelling.

- Deposit – $300.00 per person + insurance due at time of booking
- 2nd Payment – $300.00 per person due January 15, 2019
- Balance due – February 26, 2019
